Levi Strauss utilized the durable fiber by weaving it into a lightweight canvas to make the first pair of jeans. Because hemp holds its shape well, is far more durable than cotton, is a good natural insulator, and screens the suns UV rays more effectively than other fibers, it would make an excellent material for clothing. A pair of hemp fiber jeans would last almost a lifetime instead of a few years.
